The most challenging part of this assignment was trying to find information on the original website.
Photo Essay
StandardThis project was to make up for the classes that I missed while I was in Ireland. The hardest part of this assignment was just trying to figure out what to do with all of the pictures that I took, and wanted to include in the essay. I am also not sure why it displays as two separate pages online, when I designed it as a spread.
Whataburger Digital Profile
Standard
Whataburger posts a lot on Twitter, often times several times a day. Their posts are sometimes pictures of their food, but other times they are about things going on in the the states where they have stores. Recently they have been posting a lot about South by South West, which is taking place in Texas this week.
They also have a website https://shop.whataburger.com/Products#!/gift-cards?gclid=CNWnuuPwjr0CFUVp7AodW3YAtg where they sell merchandise and their delicious ketchup and mustard. The website also has a section that highlights good events and happenings in communities.
They also have a Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/whataburger where they post a lot of the same things that they do on Twitter. Their newest post is of Conan O’Brien at a store in Cleburne, Tx.
All of Whataburger’s pages have the logo as the profile picture and a picture of their food as the banner. Although it isn’t the same picture of the food throughout their profiles there is a since of continuity.
Product Ad
StandardLike always any problem I really have is figuring out what I want to do. I also could not remember if there was a way to curve text in InDesign, but it turned out to not be a big deal, since i decided that I didn’t want to do that anyways.
Passion
Image
My color was red, and the emotion that I feel when I think about red is passion. I chose a heart and the couple because those are traditional images of passion. The sheet music is incorporated into the image because I am passionate about music. Over all I didn’t have any problems with this assignment.
Collage

The theme of my collage is spring. As you can probably tell, I really want the winter to be over. I didn’t have many problems with this assignment, but I have worked with photoshop before. I would like to learn how to make the objects look more like they belong in the picture, not like they were copied and pasted there.
Ad
StandardThe original ad had text that was all centered on the page. It also did not have any pictures of the clothing. I added pictures and simplified the information on the ad. I chose the colors yellow, purple, and green because the company, Perlis, is a New Orleans shop that sells everyday clothing with a Mardi Gras twist.
Business Card Redo
StandardWhen redoing my business card I implemented the principal of contrast by changing the body of my card to a sans serif font while keeping my name in a serif font. I also changed the location of my address to the bottom of the card in order to draw more attention to my contact information. Additionally I removed the background color from the original card. The mute green was not a good color to describe myself, nor was it appropriate for any type of business card.
Color Schemes
StandardMonochromatic
Paint samples are an example of monochromatic color schemes. Although an example showing different shades of a color would also be an example of this color scheme, house paint is generally mixed with white, making it a tint of a color.
Complementary
The Scream by Edvard Munch uses the complementary colors of orange in the sky and blue in the rest of the picture. The brighter color of the orange draws your eye first, and its almost like the subject of the painting is screaming because the sky is on fire.
Analogous
This sunflower shows an example of analogous color because it shows gold, yellow, and green. The yellow of the sunflower pops against the green of the plants around it because it is the brightest of the three colors in the scheme.
Triad
The flag of Colombia is a really good example of a triad color scheme. Not only are its colors of yellow, blue and red a triad, they are a triad of primary colors.

My assigned color was blue, which invokes feelings of sadness and depression. When you think about being blue you feel low. This is why I chose to place the word at the bottom of the document. I used a 200-point size on the word because the feelings that blue bring up are not small feelings. Sadness, for example, is all consuming, therefore “blue” should be a large size. I chose to type in a sans serif font because I do not associate blue with the formality of either an old style or a modern serif font or a script or cursive , nor does it have the fun, care-free attitude of a decorative font.
